I have often had internal battles in my mind over whether or not to call myself a crafter or an artist. Where do I fit on this scale of creative titles? Do you need certain degrees, apprenticeships, or formal mastery of a medium to be able to hold these titles? I have been called both my different people.
So what am I? I think the most accurate title to throw my way might be “artisan”.
A quick look into the pages of the Merriam-Webster dictionary reveals that an artisan is: 1.)a person who is skilled at making things by hand. A worker who practices a trade or handicraft. 2.) Someone that produces something in limited quantities often using traditional methods.
